Before You Install

Three things every new user should know — so nothing surprises you.

Windows Security Warning

Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" — this is normal for newly released apps that haven't yet built SmartScreen reputation.

  1. Click "More info" below the app name
  2. Click "Run anyway"
  3. ARIA installs normally

This warning disappears as more users download ARIA.

macOS Unverified Developer

macOS may say "ARIA can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." This is Gatekeeper doing its job.

  1. Option A: Right-click the .dmg → Open → Open again
  2. Option B: System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → "Open Anyway"

Both options work. Option A is faster.

Node.js Runtime Prompt

ARIA's intelligence engine runs on Node.js. On first launch, if Node isn't installed, ARIA will ask for permission to install it.

  1. Click Allow or Install when prompted
  2. Wait ~2 minutes while Node installs
  3. ARIA starts automatically — never asks again

This is expected and required. ARIA cannot run without it.

Pick your platform above and download the installer. The file is ~85-95 MB.

Install

Run the installer — it handles everything automatically. On Windows, click "More info" → "Run anyway" if SmartScreen appears. On macOS, right-click the .dmg → Open → Open.

Node.js & First Launch

If Node.js is not installed on your machine, ARIA will prompt you to install it — click Allow or Install. This is expected and happens once. Then set your FORTRESS master password to encrypt all your data.
